What is health?
The World Health Organization defines health as “state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease.”
What does it mean to have complete physical, mental and social wellbeing? The physical wellbeing may include:
regular exercise most days of the week;
a diet low in fat, high in vegetables/fruits and whole grains
adequate sleep of 6-8 hours.

What is wholeness? Dictionary.com defines wholeness as the state of being whole; complete; entire; intact. What if there is illness? Is wholeness impossible?
Healing is defined by Dictionary.com as curing or curative; growing sound, getting well, mending or the process of regaining health. Faith Community Nursing (Parish Nursing) Scope and Standards of Practice (2205) defines healing as the “process of integrating the body, mind and spirit to create wholeness, health and a sense of well-being, even when the patient’s illness is not cured.”
